This art piece is inspired by the delicate beauty of a tropical butterfly. I decided to let go and use heavy splashes of paint to express delicate movement. I use a paint brushing effect to work on the canvas, then let the emotions run free with expressive splashes of paint.
Both processes are risky as once it is done, no erasing or painting over can happen. I like the risk involved as it’s just like our everyday existence – we can’t erase our actions.
Despite their small size, butterflies are some of the world’s most wondrous animals. Their beauty, seemingly miraculous metamorphosis and carefree flight all spark our imaginations.
Eyes closed, imagined the butterfly soaring over the petals, riding the tail of the breeze. Imagined a fairy leading their dance, her wings shimmering in the sun.
This particular butterfly seemed to come alive in her mind, like a character on the silver screen. They are twirling in the sunlight that spilled through the window.
She was pale blue, laced with yellow and red, as you can see her, inside and out, every detail of her slender body, every color of her wardrobe of wings. She wants to be among the flowers and other butterflies.
But if she couldn’t be with her friends, perhaps she could entertain you in your living room. Hanging this painting on your wall brings life, luxury and a bit of sophistication into a room.
A butterfly among the flowers, chasing the last rays of sunlight until her haven is swallowed up by night. She dances alone in the twilight, embracing the warmth of the golden hour, her wings sweeping past silky petals of the late summer blooms.
